Dictionaries for Norwegian

Dear All,

I subscribed to the list after I saw that an extension for Norwegian (
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/project/aoo-dict-no) is
looking for a maintainer.

I downloaded the other Norwegian extension as well (
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/project/Norwegian_dictionaries)
and compared the two, and found that all files are identical. The only
difference is that one of them has a short readme (README_hyph_NO.txt),
which is missing from the other.

Does anyone know why there are two extensions for Norwegian? Can anyone
confirm if they are in fact identical? If so, can the two projects be
merged somehow?

Regards,
Ádám Z. Kövér

Hi Miguel, I've seen the same problem reported for a Finnish version.
Did you mean you installed OpenOffice 3.4.1 official? I seem to recall
that the problem had been fixed in all localizations, but maybe I'm
wrong. Try to see if Risto's comments in
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=116639#c26
make sense to you (note: Risto's comment is from one year ago, he now
has commit access to the localization infrastructure).

This is strange. I thought the paper formats were the same for all
languages, but I might be just wrong. Please create an issue at
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/ (you may need to create an account)
attaching your A3 screenshot and send the link here when done. This must
be investigated separately from the other one.

This is a good moment. Better now than after 4.0, for sure!

   Andrea.

Hello, Andrea:

I'm Miguel Aristondo. I have install the basque versión AOO 4.3.1.- and
it doesn't works well.
The print menu is not right. It looks like this

and the paje format menu looks like this with bad values
21'00 and 29'70 are de values for A4 paper, not for A3.

I think this not to be a good momentfor changes because you are wiht the
preparation of AOO4.- but it can bi inportant for de new versións.

Thanks for your work and good luck.

Miguel

This is now fixed. In private conversations, we managed to unpublish my
conflicting release of
http://extensions.openoffice.org/en/project/aoo-dict-no
and to upload a new release of
http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/project/Norwegian_dictionaries

I've now updated the OpenOffice source code to bundle this new release
with the Norwegian version of OpenOffice:
http://svn.apache.org/viewvc?view=revision&revision=1477826

Regards,
   Andrea.

Hi Andrea,

I found the project that created the Norwegian dictionaries that also the
OpenOffice extension uses. The project's home page is http://no.speling.org,
but they use http://alioth.debian.org/frs/?group_id=30577 to publish
releases. They are still active, and had a new release in september 2012.
I joined the project and created an extension with the newest release,
version 2.1. I set 2.1 as the version in the extension as well. I've
uploaded it to http://seljord.ovitas.no/dictionary-no-NO-2.1.oxt. Axel
Bojer, the creator of the previous extension checked the new one, and I
also did some tests with Apache OpenOffice 3.4.1.
I'll ask Axel to give me permission to update the extension page. Once that
is done, I guess you can delete the other page.

Regards,
Ádám

It is just a placeholder I created since we needed a place to host the
Norwegian dictionaries to package with the Norwegian version.

Indeed, I confirm they are identical. It's quite strange, since I
thought the Extensions site would not allow two extensions with the same
ID (I got an error when doing the same for other languages). One of them
must go away, and it will definitely be the placeholder I created.

If you have, or can find, any contacts from the second extension who are
willing to take over the first one (I mean: people who want to maintain
the official Norwegian dictionary, the one we ship with the Norwegian
version of OpenOffice and that, as you have found out, is identical in
the two extensions) we will use the second extension as the official one
and delete the first one. All we need is a confirmation that it is still
maintained, and possibly kept up-to-date.

Regards,
   Andrea.
