Original thread: http://markmail.org/message/ppqqpkva2bthut3y

It's a bit odd in that the BSD license is embedded in a larger terms and condition to the user. Just as with Java and Windows, we don't care about the user's agreement with the third party so the only question in my mind is whether anything in the rest of the T&C adds to or clashes with the BSD clauses. All I see is:

"If your product or service uses or is based upon the Yahoo! APIs, then YOU SHALL comply with the Yahoo! Developer Network Attribution Policy located at http://developer.yahoo.com/attribution/."

However that attribution page defines itself as "you must display a Web Badge or text attribution on your web site or client application if Yahoo! content and data are served from your website or client application".

So it doesn't look as though we have to put anything on our website or product. I'll give this a few days for comment and resolve as BSD.

Furthermore, as we are talking about a sample, it clearly is something that is optional and easily removed. I have no concerns.

Sam Ruby commented on LEGAL-12:
-------------------------------

If this is referring to code based on the BSD licensed examples in the SDK, this should not be an issue per http://www.apache.org/legal/resolved.html

If this is referring to something else, more clarification on the question is needed.
