[jira] [Created] (IMPALA-13384) Precommit jobs *-build-only[-ARM] became a lot slower
Laszlo Gaal created IMPALA-13384:
------------------------------------
Summary: Precommit jobs *-build-only[-ARM] became a lot slower
Key: IMPALA-13384
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/IMPALA-13384
Project: IMPALA
Issue Type: Bug
Components: Infrastructure
Affects Versions: Impala 4.5.0
Reporter: Laszlo Gaal
The build-only jobs used in the first round of precommit verification used to run in 10-12 minutes on the current instance types. While working on IMPALA-13223 I was surprised to see that they now take twice as long, usually between 18-20 minutes. This happens uniformly on Ubuntu versions 20 and 22 as well as across CPU types: Intel x85 and ARM suffer the slowdown equally.
First impressions and the build log seems to point to the Python3 build of impala-shell, but this needs further investigation.
