[jira] Created: (XERCESC-1946) Not well-formed error messages
inadequate
Not well-formed error messages inadequate
-----------------------------------------
Key: XERCESC-1946
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/XERCESC-1946
Project: Xerces-C++
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: Validating Parser (DTD)
Environment: Eclipse Helios, Windows 7, JDK 1.6 32-bit
Reporter: Kevin Benton
When I get error messages back in Eclipse from Xerces about a DTD that's "not well-formed," that isn't enough information to help me figure out the root cause of the problem. What I needed was for it to tell me that you can't embed DOCTYPE declarations in other DOCTYPE declarations. Try to validate the code supplied at http://www.w3schools.com/dtd/dtd_examples.asp and you'll see exactly what I mean.
