ANN: svn-0.14.0-r2804-setup.exe ready for aprovement

Hi,

I have just uploaded svn-0.14.0-r2804-setup.exe as a suggested file at
the Subversion File Sharing site.

News:
  * Upgraded to the Subversion contents of svn-win32-r2804.zip
    found on the Subversion home page
  * The path where Subversion are installed are in the Windows
    registry on HKLM (when the user who installs the package
    have admin rights) and HKCU:
      SOFTWARE/Tigris.org/Subversion/PathSVN=%THE_SVNPATH%
    This is for future use (for external clients etc.)
  * Registry data are in HKLM (when the user who installs the
    package have admin rights) and HKCU in the path:
      SOFTWARE/Tigris.org/Subversion
  * Using 7-zip compression. This reduces the distro size with
    aprox. 25% compared with the previous bzip2 compression (from
    4.10 MB to 3.03 MB! :-).
    The user who installs the setup needs write permissions for
    the %TEMP% dir (on the Windows NT versions).
  * Updated the documentation. Using makeinfo and not texi2html
    on Linux for generating the docs

ToDo:
  * The Subversion path is not removed from the system after
    uninstalling the software, this will be fixed.
  * Set the installer sources under Subversion control ;-)
  * Spend more time with my wife on holydays (due: 2027/07/25 or if
    I'm getting blind or something). ;-)

Please, mail to dev@subversion.tigris.org about:
  * Bugs
  * Suggestions and Wishes
  * Should the person who installs Subversion for Windows have
    administrator preveleges only on NT's? If not, then the
    Subversion will only be installed for the current user
   (read/write accsess to the registry)
  * Documentation
  * Anything else

I can't find any hints on the download page which one people need to
download. I think just one sentence clearifying this would help to
avoid confusion in the future.

Thanks, nice words allways makes me happy! :-)

I'm afraid that I don't understand what you mean here ("the Subversion
tree" part), do you mean getting it with a:
  "svn co http://svn.collab.net/repos/svn/trunk subversion"?
I don't have any writing permissions on the svn repos and the Windows
installers are made after brane have uploaded his binaries that the
installers are builded upon.
This means that files like svn.iss (wich is the Inno Setup project file)
are allways the right one for the distro they are in.

What I can do is to send you (and include it on the next distro) a
textfile made with ls -1R from the top source tree on my working folder
so you can get a good picture on how the files in the working folder are
organized. They are different from the layout on the user's machines.
Take a look at the file svn.iss. It really tells you everything.

I'll fix it.

I will write a detailed explanation on what I do when making it.

Thanks for your feedback!

This is seriously cool. I just installed it and it installer looks
great.  Some comments on it:

1) Can you put the code and files you used to make the installer into
   the Subversion tree? I'll need to make installers for the company I
   work for and would like to make them as needed for newer releases of
   Subversion.

2) The license text and the readme are wrapped in the text window.
   Either the text needs to be wrapped or the text window made
   wider.

3) The readme still refers to revision 0.13.2-r2380.

I read the Readme.txt that describes the tools to download to make
the installer, but any additional information on how to build the
installer would be very welcome.

Best,
Blair
