[jira] Created: (GERONIMO-1354) The var/config.xml file is always re-written even if no attribute changes are made by the user

The var/config.xml file is always re-written even if no attribute changes are made by the user
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

         Key: GERONIMO-1354
         URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/GERONIMO-1354
     Project: Geronimo
        Type: Bug
  Components: startup/shutdown, usability
    Versions: 1.0
    Reporter: John Sisson
     Fix For: 1.1

This means the user can never edit the config.xml file while Geronimo is running. The user has to shut down Geronimo and then make their changes and therefore the amount of time to implement a change is longer than needed.

For 1.0 I will add some extra text to the warning in the top of the config.xml file ( see org.apache.geronimo.system.configuration.ServerOverride) that tells the user not to edit the file whilst Geronimo is running.

[jira] Resolved: (GERONIMO-1354) The var/config.xml file is always re-written even if no attribute changes are made by the user

Jay D. McHugh resolved GERONIMO-1354.
-------------------------------------

    Resolution: Won't Fix
      Assignee: Jay D. McHugh

There has been no movement on this for some time.

And, it would appear that either everyone has resigned themselves
to the fact that you cannot simply edit the config.xml - or - few people
feel that there is a good reason to do so.

If there is sufficient interest, a new JIRA should be opened on a more
current/active branch.
