[jira] [Created] (COUCHDB-2922) Hidden field problem - A usability
issue configuring Replication rules.
Tony OHagan created COUCHDB-2922:
------------------------------------
Summary: Hidden field problem - A usability issue configuring Replication rules.
Key: COUCHDB-2922
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/COUCHDB-2922
Project: CouchDB
Issue Type: Bug
Components: Fauxton
Reporter: Tony OHagan
When I first created Replication rules I made what I suspect is a common user error that suggests a usability problem and arguably a bug.
I first entered a value in a Local tab, then realised that I'd selected the wrong tab and set it to Remote (but unknown to me my original "hidden" value remained in the Local tab). I then entered a value into the Remote URL field. Sadly this failed to create the correct rule because of the hidden "Local" value. It took me while to realise what was going on.
So I recommend that selecting a new Local or Remote Tab should either
(a) Clear the field of the old Tab
or better ....
(b) Ensure that the Tab state is used to select the correct Local/Remote field value.
The later is best because if a user incorrectly selects a Tab, they can go back and find their old field value unharmed.
