Managing the SFTP dropped files

Hi,
I have Guacamole configured to run inside docker and have SFTP setup for all my user connections (SSH and SFTP) and I would like to make sure the files which users dragged and dropped into their sessions don't just stay on the guacamole or guacd containers and end up taking up a  lot of space.

I will need to have an external volume  mounted on the host and visible  to the guacd container and then also make sure to manage the space with a cron job or something. Is there a  better way to manage the dropped files? Is there a setting I can change so the files get deleted automatically?
Thanks

Thank you, I haven't used AWS EBS volume with Docker before, so I think this is probably what you suggest I should start from https://docs.docker.com/storage/volumes/#choose-the--v-or---mount-flag
Please advise,Thank you

Docker has decent documentation on using volume mounts. Once you have that
working, the Guacamole side should be straightforward (just specify a
directory within the mounted volume for the virtual drive path).

Try not to overthink the Guacamole half. From Guacamole's perspective,
there's no difference between Docker volume mounts, network filesystems,
EBS, etc. The virtual drive path for a connection is exactly that: a path.
The implementation details behind that path will be important to you, as
you maintain the system, but not to Guacamole.

Thanks Mike, my mistake,I meant to say t he RDP users so the solution you mentioned (docker volume) is exactly what I  need. Do you happen to have a tutorial on using the EBS or docker volume with Guacamole and also how to make it  accessible to guacd?

Assuming your Windows users are also using SFTP (as your initial email
specifically stated that all your connections are SSH and SFTP), the same
applies.

If you are also using RDP and Guacamole's RDP-specific virtual drive which
leverages RDPDR (not SFTP), then you will need to mount an external
directory using Docker's volume mounts and point the various virtual drives
at subdirectories of that directory.

There is no setting to delete files transferred to the virtual drive
associated with a connection. In fact, part of the point of those virtual
drives is that the files persist:

Thanks, but what about the Windows users? The guacamole containers are on a linux based host (guacd and guacamole containers and  external mysql vm). The users transfer their files to their windows  VMs via Guacamole. What about those users filling up the container space?

Thanks

They don't.

Files transferred via SFTP are streamed through. There is no intermediate
storage.
