Committed alpha stuff for content editing in webapp
I've committed what I have hacked lately about editing content in the
webapp.
It's very rough; basically I took the slash-edit stuff, trimmed it, then
trimmed it, then trimmed it, and simplified it.
I would like it to remain with the least visual stuff in it till it's
done, so we can focus on functionality; as you will see from the files,
it's much easier to understand than slash-edit.
The main reason slash-edit is difficult is that id uses stylesheets to
do things that are in fact to be done in the sitemap, like choosing
stylesheets.
To try it do "forrest run" and point the browser to
http://localhost:8888/edit/ .
I have not much time ATM to continue, so that's why I committed; it
needs bugfixes, a xml2wiki stylesheet and a correct wiki2document
stylsheet, and enhancements to the wiki grammer especially to define
sections and titles.
Anyway, have fun! :-)

FYI "new doc" worked here, but only with JDK1.4 of course (as Forrest itself
didn't work with 1.3).

:-?
It works here... look at the errors, maybe it's the JDK1.4 compilation
thing Bertrand encountered...

We sure will. Great work, Nicola!
Bugs encountered so far: 'new doc' doesn't seem to do anything.

I tried Nicola Ken's suggestion, but i still get the same
error on Linux as reported by Bertrand. When i access
http://localhost:8888/edit/
i get a blank page and that error in the terminal window.
View source shows:
<html><body></body></html>
I tried replacing both cocoon-scratchpad.jar and cocoon.jar
in my xml-forrest/lib/core with today's cocoon-2.1-dev but
received the same error.
The URL http://localhost:8888/ works fine and renders my
personal website content, so i presume that the packaged
Jetty server is OK.

I don't drink alcohol, so I'd have to revert it ;-)

I think that if editing is done in wiki format, you are correct.
The problem is when users start editing the xml also... I always get a
bit frightened when I see two versions of the files.
What do others think?

S**T, that Jdk1.4 again! grrrrr
Just recompile the Cocoon scratchpad with JDK1.3 and replace the jar, it
should work.
If anyone has time to do it now, cool , else I'll do it later today, I
have to run now.

Wow cool! I'll send a CVS patch with my name for your
list-of-people-that-owe-me-a-beer.xml ;-)
Just wondering, wouldn't it be easier to keep the wiki text around in native
form? Maybe something like:
put:
save both wikitext + document.xml formats in separate
files by chaining two SourceWritingTransforms
(wikitext saved with minimal XML wrapper)
get:
directly use wikitext format for editing, simply wrapped in an HTML form
In this way an xml2wiki transform is not needed, only a wiki2xml. This would
also allow wiki source files to be edited directly or stored in CVS (but
maybe requires a way of regenerating the XML files?).
On a sidenote, this version didn't run here (Linux) with JDK1.3, I get
java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError:
org/apache/cocoon/generation/TextParserGenerator
(Unsupported major.minor version 48.0)
at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass0(Native Method)
