Hi,
i'm new to Xindice and just downloaded and installed it.
I have done all the Path settings like in the install.windows file.

Great thanks. For the people who are having problems is this the same JDK
1.4 release? Also another thing to verify is that there isn't something
hanging out in JAVA_HOME/lib/ext. One final question, is anyone seeing
this on a platform that isn't Windows?

This is another good question, has anyone succeeded in getting it to work
on Win 98? I don't know why it doesn't, but I don't think I've ever heard
a success story.
It may be as simple as that our scripts were developed for the Windows NT
console rather then for actual DOS like you have in Win 98.

Hi,
I can say that I have never managed to get xindice (either from binary or
source) working properly under JDK1.3 on win98, and in the end I gave up.
But regarding this question:
>> Also, can anyone verify that they do have this working on JDK 1.4?
And I know this doesn't help Nathan, but I seem to have it working (at
least with the examples in the distribution) under Suse 7.1 and JDK1.4

I believe that v1.4 includes the "crimson" parser. you can specify the location of *.jar to use before the system libs with:
-Djava.endorsed.dirs="%JAVA_ENDORSED_DIRS%"
where JAVA_ENDORSED_DIRS is the location of Xerces, Xalan, etc.

My guess is this is a conflict with the built in XML parser in JDK 1.4,
can you test it with 1.3 VM?
Also, can anyone verify that they do have this working on JDK 1.4?

I am getting exactly the same NoSuchMethodError
(org.apache.xindice.xml.dom.DOMParser.getSAXParser()) as Wolfgang using both
the supplied xindice.jar and also using a home-built version (Xindice-1.0rc1
on Win98/j2sdk-1.40beta3).
I am at a loss.

There is no xindice.jar in the distribution, probably you overwritten
previous version and old xindice.jar was left. This error is maybe due this
incompatibility within server. Try to rebuild it or uncompress into new
directory and rebuild.

Hi Mark,
in the distribution from dbxml.org there is already a xindice.jar file.
But nevertheless it also doesn't work after a new build.
And after a look in the api-documentation, i didn't found a method
getSAXParser !
Thanks,
