Good idea. I've added a little story and a link to the full article.

Indeed, a great story.

Yet, what's of continuing interest is the way in which much of Italy seems to be split between LibreOffice and AOO, and not for any particularly technical or logistical reasons but, for all I can tell, reasons that are harder to comprehend.

The more important point is that it's fairly obvious that AOO is thundering ahead, has gathered enormous momentum and provides an important application to millions—

What's left is the mobile app. And that's coming.

Good news! Actually I'm happy twice, as an OpenOffice volunteer and as
one of the taxpayers who will benefit from the savings.

The title of the English article only mentions the money savings, but
it's important to know (see full text of the article and, for those who
can, the Italian sources linked from it) that the Region started
experimenting with OpenOffice 2.3 in 2008, so this is a very considered
choice: migrating only to save money would have been less significant.

Regards,
   Andrea.
