[Announcement] UIMA Innovation Grants - proposals sought from University full-time faculty members

Apache UIMA is a fairly new project in the Incubator; see
http://incubator.apache.org/uima/

To support efforts at Universities that focus on teaching, research, or
community building around Apache UIMA, IBM has announced the UIMA
Innovation Grant program for 2007.

This is a world-wide program, with awards in the $10,000 to $30,000
range. For details and information on how to submit proposals, please
visit

http://www.ibm.com/university and click on the link "Award
Opportunity" in the middle section of the page (in the top right
quadrant), and then scroll down to IBM Innovation Awards in the
Competitions section. Or you can just click on this link:

Certainly - if community@ isn't about discussing and solicting to grow
a community, I'm not sure what it's here for :)

Unlike committers@, the community@ list is opt-in/opt-out. We've had much
pushback from folks begging not to spam committers@ with any such thing.

It's also worth floating this to Jakarta's general list I think, since
you have a broad spectrum of java coders there?

this is a great way to help building the community and moving a project
forward,
but I have a question,

is community@apache.org the right place for this kind of solicitation?

Just a reminder - the deadline for initiating proposals is in about 2.5
weeks, and
the deadline for submitting proposals is 3.5 weeks away. Being conscious of
the desire to avoid "overposting" - this is the final reminder I'll post
here :-).
