FWIW the (W2K and WXP) file picker does extend the filename properly under WV
or W7. Need to find a real WXP for analysing.

Andrew Lincoln, 1/31/2013.
I was unable to replicate this bug using OpenOffice 3.4.1 [AOO341m1
(Build:9593) – Rev. 1372282] on a Windows 7 Enterprise (Service Pack 1, 32-bit)
Dell Optiplex 990.
I followed the steps described to reproduce the issue but I had no problems
opening the files. I did try erasing the file extension in the file name field
but that did not cause any issues.
This bug is important to fix because users want to be able to save their work
in different formats so others can easily see their work without needing to
install OpenOffice.
