JPOX as Apache DB subproject

I saw a similar question was asked in the January time frame and was
wondering if there might be any rethinking on this...

Wouldn't it make sense to promote JPOX project to a formal part of the
Apache DB project. (i.e. org.apache.jdo.impl.* or perhaps
org.apache.openjdo.*)? While having the standard API implemented under
the Apache umbrella is nice, having the reference impl. along with it
would be better yet.

Another question. There was talk of doing a file DB adapter for JPOX
some time ago. SleepCat's Java DB was mentioned. Any updates on that?

I posted a similar question (included directly below) to the JPOX forum)
about a month ago and have also included Erik's response as well. Based
upon his response, any reservation they may have may be mostly
logistical.

The JPOX folks were not interested in moving the project to Apache.
