JCR-642: flat content hierarchies: Anything on the horizon??

Hello,

Concerning issue JCR-642 "Support flat content hierarchies" (
http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JCR-642 ), are there any plans to
tackle this issue in the near future?

cheers,

Not really. Resolving the issue would at least require refactoring the
current NodeState class that is a very central piece of the Jackrabbit
core.

The only current effort that might eventually solve that issue is the
"next generation persistence" model that was just proposed two weeks
ago. I don't expect anything much to come out of such a proposal in
the near future, the expected timeline is more likely measured in
years.
