first implementation of the revised esql namespace

attached is the first implementation of the revised esql namespace, and a
fairly complex sample which works with it. gotta flesh it out with
exception handling and connection pooling, but it's a start. i'll be
checking it into cvs once i get those in. i welcome early reports from
tester types.
