Welcome Raphi!

Welcome to the team!

Our team has started using Slack for simple communications. "Official"
decision-making communications should be done via email for record-keeping,
but the Slack channel is good for quick questions.

Hi Craig,

Yes, I understand the situation and no problem with that.

I am taking a look at overview document and implementing source code in there.
After that, I think I need to post some questions to you guys.

Hi Raphi,

You won't get an Apache id for a while, but that is not needed to join the conversation.

Most of the discussion happens here on dev@juneau.apache.org. Just subscribe and you're part of the team!

Thanks Craig!

It's set up and we should now get digests at 8am.

I'll try not to walk into traffic while we figure out what to do with the
password.

The message from slack was in moderation. I sent it through.

James, now that you have set this up, we'll need to set up a way to share the slack credentials with the PPMC. Not saying that you won't be an excellent person to be the contact, but bus-strike precautions...

Other teams have this same issue. I'll ask around to see how they have solved it.

A (P)PMC can request a private area in our private svn repository. eg.
repos/private/pmc/juneau/

File a ticket, and we'll create the space for the PPMC to store shared
secrets.

It's possible to encrypt a file with multiple public keys.

Only those with access to a corresponding private key can decrypt the file.

Hi Mark,

The slack admin (currently James Bognor) has a login and password. These should be shared with the PPMC.

Can you tell us how other teams have solved this "shared secret" issue? Once juneau is its own TLP we can check in a secrets file into the repository, but while in the incubator hundreds of people have access to the juneau repo...

juneau-dev@a.o should be an alias already.

Try posting to it as a test. If that doesn't work it is dev-juneau@

Note: all lists are setup this way due to how our mailing list software works.

Hi Infra,

Can you suggest a way for the juneau slack channel to be automatically digested and sent to dev@juneau?

Thanks!

Tried setting up automatic digest emails but having limited luck.

John installed Digest.AI which appears to be what we want, but it can only
send digests to existing Slack user email accounts. There is no
dev@juneau.apache.org Slack user and I can't create one because it's not an
"@apache.org" email address.

If we had a "dev.juneau@apache.org" email alias, I could make it work.

Hi James,

Can you set up the slack channel to forward conversations to the mail list? Otherwise, there's no history of anything that happened on slack. Even quick questions/answers are good for folks to see after the fact.
