There is a warning box on this page about not using Safari on a Mac with the Admin UI, but I do, and it displays schema.xml just fine, with syntax highlighting, at [http://localhost:8983/solr/#/collection1/schema].  Maybe the Admin UI has addressed this problem, or maybe Safari has fixed the raw XML display problem?  I have a Macbook Pro running OS X 10.8.4, including Safari 6.0.5.
