I'm not sure that a definitive list is going to get maintained. Or
indeed is correct (where does it stop? Maven plugins? java? Linux?!)

The specific issue/request is from YourKit and the requests is now less
than it was (they used to suggest words).

How about:

"""
The [YourKit Java
Profiler](http://www.yourkit.com/java/profiler/index.jsp) is used to
profiling Jena's source code with licenses provided for free of charge
to open source projects.
"""

What might be better text?

Perhaps a bit more neutral text would be appropriate, though.

In Taverna's attribution for a similar free (as in beer) license we simply
say:

*Tools we use*

The following is a summary of the main tools we use for development:

..
*Atlassian* *Conflunce*
Wiki, knowledge management and documentation sharing system
http:// <http://www.atlassian.com/software/confluence/>www.atlassian.com

*jProfiler* (ej-technologies)
Java Profiler, tracking memory and thread leaks
http:// <http://www.ej-technologies.com/products/jprofiler/overview.html>
www.ej <http://www.ej-technologies.com/products/jprofiler/overview.html>-
