   One functional comment: the new API essentially allows to replace information in the about box by any module in the system. It should not be the case, the about box have at least a mandatory part that describes the platform or distribution (application). Optionally additional information collected from modules.
   Your AboutMessageOverride seems as if it should not be registered in default Lookup, but passed through e.g. system property or a file on classpath (among the startup JARs), so it is strictly under the control of the distribution packager.
