The fabric8 camel plugin can validate endpoint uris from the source code
http://fabric8.io/guide/camelMavenPlugin.html

From Camel 2.18 onwards the camel-catalog support multiple versions and then we can let the plugin detect the camel version and use the catalog that matches for validation.
