How to test builds manually on a buildbot slave?

Hi,

I'm having issues with the http://ci.apache.org/builders/sling-trunk
build, which look related to the build environment, build box speed
etc.

Can I run a build manually on the same box to see how it behaves? That
should help find our testing issues faster.

The builds are running on
http://ci.apache.org/buildslaves/bb-vm_ubuntu , can I get a shell on
that box?

-Bertrand (fairly clueless about buildbot I'm afraid, RTFM links are welcome)

Thanks, sorry I got sidetracked and will stay like that for a few more days ;-)

Although the Sling folks don't use #sling much, I have been using the
sling-bot to trigger builds, but I might need more insight about why
the builds are failing there are it seems to be that specific
environment that exposes bugs in our tests.

I'll come back to you when I find time to work on this again, thanks
for the ping!

Hi Bertrand,

Just checking in, how you getting on, can I help, is IRC availability something you can
work with or do we need to do something else.?

The #sling IRC channel I have been on permanently since June 19th when I first
replied and only myself and sling-bot have been on it that whole time so Im guessing
that the Sling project doesnt use it much :)

For what you need to do, using the sling-bot is ideal.

Thanks

Hi Bertrand,

The sling-bot on the irc #sling channel takes commands, including starting/stopping builds.

I'm there now, and happy to assist with that and/or with VM env changes as needed.
