1) The exception is almost certainly an installation error -- a damaged copy of
Xalan, or a collision between two different versions. Check your classpath and
in particular check the tips starting at
http://xml.apache.org/xalan-j/faq.html#faq-N100B4

2) The Namespace issue is INVALID; this is correct behavior. See
http://xml.apache.org/xalan-j/faq.html#faq-N101DC.
