I dove into sa-stats.pl this week and made a lot of changes including:

fixed the bug that was preventing piped logs from working,

added an HTML report (with -H) and more documentation,

stripped trailing spaces from lines which interfered with pod2html,

and refactored a lot of the code's innards.
