[Meeting Notes] Airflow issue triage process call - Feb 24, 2021

Hey everyone,

Here is the summary of our meeting last week.
Thank you all who joined the call, really appreciate your participation and
you taking the time! Please correct anything that I missed.
To all those who did not join, please voice your opinion if you disagree
with anything.

Overall Summary
Key points discussed:

   - *Issue triage and resolution document: *
   - The process for assigning labels, the actual labels to use, and the
   process to track issues to resolution has been written up and published in
   the Issue reporting and resolution process
   <https://github.com/apache/airflow/blob/master/ISSUE_TRIAGE_PROCESS.rst>
    document.

   - *Issue metrics: *
   - We have been tracking the issues and categorizing them as they have
   been reported over the last few months.
   - Some of the early results can be seen as part of the Airflow issue
   tracking charts
   <https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_B6L2rG5SRAXSX7V7q3o0MRF68wgU1ipCHOUjv_NqPc/edit#gid=780745213>
   .

   - Currently, the biggest gap we have here is that the older bugs and
   features generally reported before Oct of 2020 have not yet been
   categorized appropriately.
   - The "ask" for all Airflow Committers and Issue creators is the
   following:
   - "*If you have created issues before 2.0 was released, please do
   comment on those issues if they are still relevant with Airflow 2.0*".
   - If they are no longer relevant, please "close" them or mark them as
   "deprecated". One example are issues which apply to the experimental API,
   but are no longer relevant with the introduction of the stable REST API in
   Airflow 2.0.
   - Please do the above for both bugs and older feature requests
   especially for issues in Airflow Core.
   - The github search is of the form "is:issue is:open label:kind:bug
   created:<2020-10-01 " for older bugs web link
   <https://github.com/apache/airflow/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+label%3Akind%3Abug+created%3A%3C2020-10-01>
   - And, "is:issue is:open label:kind:feature created:<2020-10-01 " for
   older features web link
   <https://github.com/apache/airflow/issues?page=5&q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+label%3Akind%3Afeature+created%3A%3C2020-10-01>

   - *Next steps*
   - We are also going to look into older PRs and track PR metrics so that
   we can help contributors get their PRs merged faster.
   - Kaxil has also fixed the bug in the "stale bot", so that old, stable
   PRs get closed automatically.
   - Requesting all committers to help triage older issues and features as
   described above in Airflow Core!
