[jira] [Created] (HIVE-5408) Method matching needs to be improved
in NumericOpMethodResolver to suport decimal type with parameters
Xuefu Zhang created HIVE-5408:
---------------------------------
Summary: Method matching needs to be improved in NumericOpMethodResolver to suport decimal type with parameters
Key: HIVE-5408
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-5408
Project: Hive
Issue Type: Improvement
Components: Types
Affects Versions: 0.12.0
Reporter: Xuefu Zhang
Assignee: Xuefu Zhang
Fix For: 0.13.0
For non-generic UDFs, java reflection is used to determine which evaluate() is to be used for given input expressions. For this, method's argument type is matched against the expression's type. Currently a match exists only if the two types are exactly the same. However, for decimal with precision/and scale, we need to improve the matching, such that a method with decimal arugment should be picked for an input with, say, decimal(5,2).
