Question about 1.5

Greetings,

I will start out by saying I really appreciate all the truly great
work and effort put in by everyone working on SVN.

This morning, my boss came in to my office, and asked me when I would
be able to upgrade us to 1.5. I know that it is not released yet and
there is no definite time line, but he asked for an estimate date that
I could do the upgrade. We will have to schedule down time for our
repository, we have about 500 developers and about 200 individual
repositories plus or minus. Anyway, I picked a date out of thin air,
I said the weekend of May 9th. That being just over a month away and
after we return from JavaOne. Can anyone give me a heads up if I am
realistic or not, should I try and move the date back or wait and
cross my fingers.

Thanks
Troy

That is probably overly optimistic. I believe our policy is that the
RC process has to run for at least 4 weeks, and I do not think it has
ever been less than 6. We have not issued the RC1 yet, but hopefully
it is going to be fairly soon. Once the RC1 has been released, I'd
pick a date for your upgrade that is 6+ weeks later. Of course, you
could choose to do your upgrade based on the RC if you choose.
