[~ashishpaliwal], am able to reproduce this in my environment on JDK8, when I run this specific test alone, do you want me to take a stab at this one ?
(The test passes if you run any additional "runTestShellCmdHelper" inside the testMonitoredCounterGroup() , but not sure if this helps in trying to fix the root cause of the test failiure)
