Xerces in JDK 8

Dear All,

I haven't found any clear statement what Xerces version is bundled with JDK
8.

Looking into the sources bundled with JDK
(com/sun/org/apache/xerces/internal/impl/Version.java) I can see 'Xerces-J
2.7.1'

But from e.g. these changesets
http://hg.openjdk.java.net/jdk8/tl/jaxp/rev/e93beba07830
http://hg.openjdk.java.net/jdk8/2d/jaxp/rev/3b071f506ab9
Xerces sources seem to be further tweaked.

Are there any plans to update Xerces in JDK8 to the most recent version?

Jan

Dear Michael,

Ok, I've found right now also this:
http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=6984016

So I suppose the original Xerces 2.7.1 (?) in JDK is continually patched,
but no new features are added. That version info is rather misleading.

Thanks to this independence I hope new Xerces fixes (e.g. XInclude one :-)
can be propagated into JDK even before a new Xerces release...

We will see,

Jan

Hi Jan,

You would need to ask your question to Oracle. We have no influence over
or awareness of what their plans are for their JDK.

Thanks.
