64 bit Linux builds for 4.1.2

Hello,

for testing 64 bit Linux builds are needed.

Do we have any we can use for testing AOO 4.1.2?

Kind regards
Michael

Thank you, well spotted! Will take note for future uploads.

the script hashing the source packages had a little problem
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/openoffice/4.1.2-rc1-r1705606/source/
md5 and sha256 tried to hash r705606 instead of r1705606

I confirmed I checked myself, and all languages are there: it is just a
matter of comparing svn ls
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/openoffice/4.1.2-rc1-r1705606/binaries
to
http://sourceforge.net/projects/openofficeorg.mirror/files/4.1.1/binaries/

Not now, sorry. Upload was broken in one of the preliminary steps. The
current binaries were committed from people.apache.org but the copy we
have there already misses those files. So it will take a few days to
recover the Linux 64-bit DEB (full installs) but it is time to start
testing the other 11 available variants.

The headline of http://www.openoffice.org/ can already be pointed at
https://blogs.apache.org/ooo/ (since we agreed we would do it as soon as
test builds were available).

I'm now going to send a message to the dev and QA lists with some
further details.

Regards,
   Andrea.

The release files are nearly complete. Only the Linux 64 bit DEB full
install files are missing. The langpacks are there.

@Andrea: From where do they come? It is possible to deliver them also?

Thanks

As soon as we know that the set is complete. This means (and everybody
can do it): checking that all 4.1.1 languages are listed in
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/openoffice/4.1.2-rc1-r1705606/binaries/
and that all platforms are complete.

Indeed it seems that, as Mechtilde noted, the current upload includes (I
checked for Italian):
- 64-bit RPM (install and langpack)
- 64-bit DEB (langpack is there, full install is missing)
- 32-bit RPM (install and langpack)
- 32-bit DEB (install and langpack)
- Mac OS X (install and langpack)
- Windows (install and langpack)

So out of the 12 packages we make available for each language, 1 (the
64-bit DEB install) seems to have had upload problems. If this is the
case, we can still start QA on the other 11, while we get this fixed.

Unfortunately Mechtilde and others will have to convert the RPM install
sets with alien (I hope it's workable) in the meantime.

It is also important to check that the language list matches the ones we
released for 4.1.1.

I would say: if we have all languages and the upload broke only in the
full install in 64-bit RPM, we can already start (and the missing
packages will of course be added as soon as possible).

Regards,
   Andrea.

when do you think we should talk a bit louder about the new builds? I
mean, updating the blog post, updating the headline on the website, etc. ?

To announce it a bit more in the public can help to get a better test
coverage.

The URL above is now populated, after Infra fixed the remaining issues.
So don't say it too loud for the time being (I'm not sure everything was
uploaded correctly), but we do have a Release Candidate for Apache
OpenOffice 4.1.2 ready.

This will NOT be a version we vote on. It will be the version we use for
preliminary QA.

By the way, now we have a process that will hopefully reduce the time
needed for uploading release candidates by an estimated factor of 20: in
practice, from a few days to a few hours.

Regards,
   Andrea.

We will. The idea is that
https://dist.apache.org/repos/dist/dev/openoffice/
will contain the full set, as if it was a normal release: all systems,
all languages. So in this respect it will be a test for a full release
already. This will still need some adjustments with Infra about
permissions and disk quotas, but builds should show up according to the
schedule I sent yesterday.

Regards,
   Andrea.

Not currently. Stay tuned. I thought we had a SNAPSHOT build set
up for linux-64 but apparently we don't. hmmmm...
