Hey, this is not only me. *ALL *the Axis2 people including you should
get this credit, I was just resolvig that issue ;-) . But we have
nothing to party, our MAIN aim is not to have a fully infoset compliant,
great, nice, tiny, blah blah AXIOM.
Our aim is to make the Axis2 a better one. So we have lot to do to
satisfy the "hungry" people looking at us :-)
BTW, you and Ashu seems silent in the list these days. Did you Left Axis2 ??

Nice to hear that Eran.
Congrats!
I admit, I'm not abreast with current happenings. So then, may be, we have
now a 100% success on all the XMLsuite files. I once thought underlying
parser is bottleneck for successfully processing some of those files.
In anycase, whatever may be the means by which issues are resolved, the end
result of "infoset-complaint" is a breather to many.

With minor changes to DocTypeImpl.java and the test case itself, the
results are now

I tried to attack the errors, and found out that several xmls have in
their DTDs, references to outside system files for ex.

And XMLUnit when trying to compare the output xml and the input file
is not able to locate the relative path referenced file "ibm62v01.dtd"

in the directory of the xml file itself?

Sorry Eran, couldn't see it yesterday.
Running the tests is nothing complex than to unzip XMLSuite.zip into
the test resources folder. The XMLSuite.zip however is not provided in
the maven distribution of Axis2 b'coz of its size but can be availed
from the ashu_java_venkat scratch at the url.

In any case, I'll update my sources and run the test once on my
machine as well and report back in a couple of hours.

We found a bug in serialisation code, in fixing that. Give us some time to get back with a fix for that.

Hi!
I've run the XMLConformance test. This time parse count is 735 while succes count is 558. I've tried to see what are the reasons and found out the following.
We are building OM out of the given xml but are just serializing back only the DocumentElement, hence many xml files that had DTD elements and document level PIs are not getting fully serialized in the emitted out xml from om model. This is reducing the success rate significantly. We successfully got during OM building phase DTD elements, PI s etc all as children inside the OMDocument. Its just that we are not serializing them out that is lessing the success rate.
In the test case I modified the existing code to serialize the whole OMDocument rather than just the DocumentElement, however there wasn't any improvement in the success rate because internally inside OMDocumentImpl.serialize() method only the rootElement is being serialized rather than all the children. Can the OMDocumentImpl.serialize() method be revisited by someone to incorporate serializing of all the children (just the way OMElementImpl.serialize() does)? I guess, some util functions argument types might have to be changed to reuse code for this purpose.

Dims, if its due to the need for DTD support, my feeling is its not worth bothering with since they never occur in SOAP messages.

I fixed this. Sorry for the delay, we encounter another bug in serialization and that delayed this fix.
Can you please run the conformance tests again, please.
BTW, can you tell me how to run this tests, so that I also can check (and hack a bit ;) ) on this.

Gimme two hours, I'll report the findings and the exact reasons why they are failing. However, early I ran the tests about a week back and saw about 520+ success rate, which was close to where we shelved the work

I don't know the causes for the failures. Honestly i did not look at all. I just ran the test with new code and reported the results. It may or may not be related to DTD's. Someone needs to spend a little bit time with this before we lower the criticality. If there is no time to do it...then it's your call on lowering the bug.

Hi all!
On a latest SVN copy I was able to get a success count of 542 initially today. The reasons for failures remained pretty much the same ones (incomplete validation and processing of DTD, underlying parser problems etc.) except for a few extra failures caused because of some recent changes in the way serialization of PIs, comments etc. are done.
The
writer.writeCharacters("<?");
kind of statements are writing out "<" instead of "<" character for PI and hence some new errors were introduced. So I modified those files to use writer.writeProcessingInstruction() and writer.writeComment() methods.
I'm attaching the patch contaning those changes for community's review. With these changes we stand at the earlier saturated count of 575 .
