unpredictable behavior with minimize / maximize click icons

Runtime Environment:

W2000 workstation
java 1.3.1.b24
8/1/01 jetspeed 1.3a2  from CVS
tomcat 3.2.3
jaxp.jar, paser.jar deleted from tomcat/lib
xalan-2.0.1.jar, xerces_1_3_1.jar added to tomcat/lib

I added a new pane, then populated it with every portlet on the menu regardless of available status.

Sometimes but not every time the error message below pops up instead of a portlet bar minimizing when I click the minimize icon. If I back button and click again it sometimes may take two or three attempts the bar will minimize. It also can occur when maximizing.

In most cases I did not click off the page to any links, just looked at the content then clicked on the minimize icon.

i did an archive search and found nothing on this error.  Any advice ?
