Publicizing Installer release

Before we get busy with other stuff, can we figure out how best to
publicize the release of the installer? The goal of this publicity drive
would be to drive traffic to this page:

*Apache Flex SDK Installer*: http://incubator.apache.org/flex/installer.html

Can the person who has the Apache flex twitter account post an announcement?

Scott, can you please post on the LinkedIn group?

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Om

I will tweet 24/7 next week if you tell me how to fix this:

'The application could not be installed. Try installing it again. If the
problem persists, contact the application author.'

I have corrupted window's update - Microsoft Visual C++ redistributable
2008 that made AIR runtime useless.
I was trying lots of things, like digging in registry, unistaling all
stuff, then reinstlaling it again. Even some dll fixer solution.
The only reasonable thing is to reinstall Windows from scratch... hell
this will be a pain for me.
I have win7 64bit machine running from over a year without any issues.

I just posted an announcement to the Facebook page. Hopefully I got
everything right.

Keep in mind that I'll be more than happy to make any PPMC Members /
Committers admins on the Facebook page.

I don't have access to the twitter account though.

If things are moved correctly, old URls will be redirected.

Just a side thought, if it's only a few more days till graduation(possibly). Wouldn't that mean the URL would be changing? Should it wait a few days, or just do another announcement for the new URLs?

That info as at http://incubator.apache.org/guides/branding.html
("Publicity throughout the Incubation Process") - the gist is "Podling
can conduct informal PR activities, such as media outreach, blog
publicity, etc. The ASF will not issue any press releases for any
podling at this stage".

So outreach is not a problem, what's important is to make it clear
that Flex is (still for a few days) incubating, and as usual stating
true facts is never wrong.

Posted by "christofer.dutz@c-ware.de" <ch...@c-ware.de>.
Perhaps we should ask the Apache Communication team first before doing any anouncements.

In the ApacheCon "The Apache Way" track, they said that public anouncements for incubator projects are not allowed to be made without going to the official press team and that ignoring that rule can have a very bad impact on a projects graduation. So I would be really really carefull publishing anything without double-checking it with the press team.
