Request for help/hints/pointers ...
Hi there,
at the moment we have two areas where people can post bugs, feature request:
* Bugzilla, cf.
<http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/buglist.cgi?query_format=specific&order=relevance+desc&product=BSF&content=>,
and
* jira, cf.
Unfortunately, it seems that entries to these tracking systems are not
generating e-mails to the <bsf-dev> list. Also, I have not been able to
change anything in the jira-system (the commiter list for the bsf
project is empty).
So does anyone have either the rights for Bugzilla and jira to configure
it and to add committers to the administrator group? If so, I would
request that the bsf-committers get added there. If not, where would I
be able to find pointers of how to proceed with this and whom to contact
by e-mail?
AFAIK, we settled on that bugzilla should be moved to jira. So we need
to be able to administrate both. In addition, I changed the text in
"bsf/problems.xml", generated the html version and checked that into svn
(rev. 580,573) on 2007-09-22. Obviously, I have been missing something
as our website does not reflect that change
<http://jakarta.apache.org/bsf/problems.html>.
Any pointers to any of the above mentioned problems would be highly
appreciated!

Thank you for this hint, will try to apply it in Jira (where I now am
able to administrate)!

For bugzilla you create a user account for the dev list and make this
user the one who gets bugs assigned to him by default.
Note that bugzilla sends out an initial password by email, which
should not be moderated through. Ideally the moderator will confirm
the new user and "allow" subsequent mails from bugzilla.
This last paragraph shows one issue, it only works if there is at
least one active moderator, which probably still isn't true (I
volunteered to be one, but I've never received any moderation
requests).

Thank you *very* much for your kind offer!
Would it be possible for you to have Bugzilla and jira send e-mails to
"bsf-dev@jakarta.apache.org" ("Bean Scripting Framework Developers"),
whenever an issue is created or changed? This would be very helpful for
all of us! This way we can react much quicker than is the case at the
moment (submitters may get the feeling that BSF is
unresponsive/sleeping, which it is not).
Ad Bugzilla: if it was possible to have an information page on
Bugzilla's "Enter new issue" page which points to the Jira BSF projects
with a text asking for entering the issue there, this would be very
helpful also. (However, if the forwarding of Bugzilla issue-change
messages to bsf-deve works, then it would o.k. too).

Would also be really good to get the Jira update emails sent to the dev
list. The dev list email address is the in Jira so i'm not sure why it
doesn't happen, i wondered if it was getting held up in moderation, not sure
who the bsf mailing lists moderators are?

Hi there,
following Stefan Bodewigs hint about defining a default assignee for
issues and point it to the bsf-dev e-mail address I went there and tried it.
This is what I got back:
------------------- cut here --------------------
Project: BSF
Bean Scripting Framework (BSF) is a set of Java classes which provides
scripting language support within Java applications, and access to Java
objects and methods from scripting languages.
*Key: * BSF
*URL:* http://jakarta.apache.org/bsf/index.html
*Project Team:*
Project Lead: Jakarta BSF Developers
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/ViewProfile.jspa?name=bsf-dev%40jakarta.apache.org>
Default Assignee: Project Lead (*WARNING: User not Assignable.*)
Project Roles: View members
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/project/ViewProjectRoleActors.jspa?projectId=12310621>
*Issue Type Scheme: * Apache Default Issue Type Scheme
*Notification Scheme:* BSF
*Permission Scheme:* Standard Permissions
*Issue Security Scheme:* None
*Field Configuration Scheme:* System Default Field Configuration
*Issue Type Screen Scheme:* Default Issue Type Screen Scheme
*Workflow Scheme:* None
*CVS Modules:* None
*Mail Configuration:* Mail notifications from this project will come
from the default address
*Project Category:* Jakarta
------------------- cut here --------------------
So it seems that there are still problems there.
Also, the list of possible assignees only consists of "Project Lead" and
"Unassigned", so no other users show up, which does not seem to be right.

thank you *very* much! (Now I should be able to change the status of
issues filed by others.)
Did look around the administrator pages, but have not found an option
which would allow for sending an e-mail to the dev-list whenever an
issue gets created/changed [I noticed that there is a user named
"Jakarta BSF Developers
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/secure/ViewProfile.jspa?name=bsf-dev%40jakarta.apache.org>"
with an e-mail of "dev@jakarta.apache.org"].
---
Also a question to the BSF developers: would it be o.k. with you, if you
were added with admin rights to the BSF jira project as well? This way,
we would always have a few people who could change stati, if there is a
pressing need for one reason or another?

I don't have any Bugzilla powers but i have some Jira admin rights (but not
much knowledge of how to do things). I've added your Jira id as a BSF admin
and committer.
Can't help with the website sorry, i've never found any doc on how to update
it.
