Bootstrap_system.sh supports, or will support shortly an ever larger set of OS platforms: currently redhat6, redhat7, Ubuntu 16.04 and 18.04, with Centos 8 and ubuntu 20.04 coming in the foreseeable future.
With all the peculiarities of these platforms crammed into a single script, it became more and more complex; it became harder to read, to maintain and to reason about.
It is time the script is refactored.
