[Bug 6846] New: FREEMAIL_FORGED_REPLYTO FSL_FREEMAIL_1 FSL_FREEMAIL_2 False positives

https://issues.apache.org/SpamAssassin/show_bug.cgi?id=6846

          Priority: P2
            Bug ID: 6846
          Assignee: dev@spamassassin.apache.org
           Summary: FREEMAIL_FORGED_REPLYTO FSL_FREEMAIL_1 FSL_FREEMAIL_2
                    False positives
          Severity: normal
    Classification: Unclassified
                OS: Linux
          Reporter: danielsh@apache.org
          Hardware: PC
            Status: NEW
           Version: 3.3.2
         Component: Rules
           Product: Spamassassin

On 1 Oct 2012, infra@ received three independent reports of Yahoo users (.com,
.de, .com) about their mails to us being rejeced due to a high spam score. See
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-5331 for a representative sample.

We ended up zeroing the scores for those rules. Opening a bug here after
discussion on IRC.

Imo it's very unwise to HARD reject with a score of 6

Is Infra doing regular sa-updates ?

score FSL_FREEMAIL_1 0.001 0.001 0.001 0.001
score FSL_FREEMAIL_2 2.796 2.799 2.796 2.799

will change rules to nopublish and watch performance

FSL_FREEMAIL_1 / FSL_FREEMAIL_2 where removed as they reproduced a minimal
subset handled by the Freemail plugin.

All .pre files are loaded not just the one for the current version. The
different pre files let's us handle new plugins for a new release without
overwriting your pre-existing config files.

That doesn't resolve the problem that things that are clearly spam are no
longer generating the score they should. Do you want a new bug on that issue?

The problem I see here is that by removing these, freemail checks are never
done anymore. This is because the plugin is not loaded in v340.pre.

This seems to be because the following two rules were deleted:

FSL_FREEMAIL_1 is missing
FSL_FREEMAIL_2 is missing

You can pickup the old rules from SVN

http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/spamassassin/trunk/rulesrc/sandbox/maddoc/99_doc_test.cf

and score them as high as you want or use the existing Freemail rules in a meta
of your choice

There is no need for a new bug.
