Using commons-logging

I am playing around with converting turbine over to commons-logging. I
have actually accomplished this with just one problem. The current
directory when Turbine is running is the bin directory of TomCat. Using
relative paths in my log4j.properties file leaves me with log files
under that directory. Granted, I could use '../' to back up a directory
but my application is not under the webapps directory.

I would like for my current directory (as far as log4j or any other
logger is concerened) to be the root of my webapp. Any suggestions on
how I might accomplish this?

I put my code for commons-logging with Turbine-2 in the CVS some minutes
ago. Please check out the head and see if it suits your needs.

T3 already uses commons-logging. Have you looked at the way it is
handled there? (hint, no log4j.properties -- log4j gets bootstrapped
during turbine initalization).

As of now, it's in the CVS. Happy hacking. :-)

In T3, I think it is Turbine.getApplicationRoot()

I am 99% sure that Henning has done this already and is planning on
committing it some time in the near future. Is there any point in doubling
up on the effort?
