[jira] [Commented] (SOLR-6808) Create a shippable tutorial integrated with running Solr instance

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-6808?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14229150#comment-14229150 ]

Erick Erickson commented on SOLR-6808:
--------------------------------------

"bin/solr start -e techproducts" does the first thing already I think. "techproducts" is the old "example" bit. So it creates the techproducts local core (no cloud) and uploads all the old example docs to it. Needs to get doc in the tutorial of course...

> It would be good to have a tutorial shipping with Solr distribution that is *active* and actually uses live Solr instance to demonstrate and explain concepts.
> Some very rough ideas to start the conversation going:
> Start bin/solr start -e tutorial-basic
> Provide instructions as admin-extra files
> Use new REST functionality to create/modify types and admin handlers
