xalan problem...

Hi
     We are using xalan on Windows NT Enviornment with java Web server.We
can see the output using xalan on browser.But when we change our xml and xsl
files a few number of times it enters a mode wherein  it stops working until
the m/c is restarted.
In the above mode if I give "debug=true" it pops me a window and asks
whether I want to download the file or open it.When I choose to open it and
then also we are not able to open it in the browser. 
If I donot give the option "debug=true" then it says 500 internal error but
nothing comes up on the console or the error logs.

I guess there is something wrong with xalan.When it enters that mode some
exception occurs or some global variable is set to a value, which screws up
the whole functioning.
Please look into this...
