[jira] [Commented] (WICKET-6511) AbstractColumn should be subject of IAuthorizationStrategy

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WICKET-6511?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16306963#comment-16306963 ]

Martin Grigorov commented on WICKET-6511:
-----------------------------------------

I am not sure what you suggest exactly.
If a Component is not authorized to be instantiated then org.apache.wicket.authorization.UnauthorizedInstantiationException is being thrown.
If a Column should not be shown to the user then most probably you want to not add it to the list of columns passed to DataTable rather than throwing such exception, no ?

> Currently almost every Wicket component is instance of Component class, hence is taken into account by different AuthorizationStrategies.
> Unfortunately, it's not the case for AbstractColumn, which is not Component.
> There are business cases where application must restrict access to particular columns in table.
> Please make AbstractColumn a Component or provide a corresponding IAuthorizationStrategy mechanism.
