[jira] [Created] (KAFKA-3706) kafka-console-consumer.sh picks up old consumer by default

Arun Mahadevan created KAFKA-3706:
-------------------------------------

Summary: kafka-console-consumer.sh picks up old consumer by default
                 Key: KAFKA-3706
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-3706
             Project: Kafka
          Issue Type: Bug
    Affects Versions: 0.9.0.1
            Reporter: Arun Mahadevan
            Assignee: Arun Mahadevan
            Priority: Minor

The default configuration picks up old consumer. To use new consumer we need to pass --new-consumer option. Since the old consumer code is not going to be maintained its better to make the new-consumer as default.
