Problem with Type = Button (script working fine with type = submit)

Hi All,

I'm carrying out performance testing for a site which is developed in ASP.net. All my scripts were working fine. Recently we received a build and my scripts are not getting executed successfully. Post request is not adding data in database.

After analysing i found that, 'Continue' button which was initially type = Submit. Is now changed to type = button. (And javascript is called on its click)

I'm not able to see that Continue button in response neither post is happening, though parameter name and value is passed correctly.

Has anyone faced this issue? Does anyone knows solution to this?

Do i need to make any settings anywhere so as, Jmeter works for type =button too.

Eagerly waiting for responses. My work is stuck :-(

Thanks,

Jayashree

Re: Problem with Type = Button (script working fine with type = submit)

Posted by Michael Stover <ms...@apache.org>.
Changing from a submit to a button, in itself, doesn't change anything
from JMeter's point of view. I expect that what has happened is the
http parameters expected by the web-app have changed.

I recommend you use JMeter's proxy recorder to record the browsers
actions while hitting the new button, and then compare how the request
parameters have changed in the new build.

Re: Problem with Type = Button (script working fine with type = submit)

Posted by Jayashree K <k_...@yahoo.com>.
Thanks for the response Srikanth,

Yes. There is a continue button. I'm passing all the parameters correctly.
Initially this continue button was having a type = submit (in code)
and now it is having type = button.

Can there be any issues with hiddensubmit happening ?
Thx,
Jayashree

Hi,
Though I cant understand your problem entirely, I can say u have a some Page1 which contains a continue button on clicking it some other page say Page2 is called. In your testplan add a request for Page2 immediatly after Page1 and add all the required parameters in that Page2 request and selecting GET or POST as required.

Thanks,

Jayashree
