why the region is not split more than 4g?

    i set the region is 4G,the memstore is 256MB, i find the storefiles is very big in the some region, why?
    numberOfStores=1, 
    numberOfStorefiles=39, 
    storefileUncompressedSizeMB=55178, 
    storefileSizeMB=55179, 
    compressionRatio=1.0000,
    memstoreSizeMB=769, 
    storefileIndexSizeMB=1
