CAS Merger question
Hi,
I am testing the capabilities of the CAS Merger.
The CAS Merger is the last "engine" before the CAS Consumer step in my
flow.
The hasNext() method returns false when the CASMerger did not finish to
"merge".
When the hasNext() method returns false, then the inputted CAS passes to
the CASConsumer. I expected that no CAS is outputted until hasNext()
returns true.
Is it the wished behavior?
Regards,
Benjamin

Hi Benjamin,
please don't cross-post. All UIMA developers read both
the dev and the user's list. Thanks.

FYI I responded to this thread on uima-user since that seemed the more
appropriate forum.

Hi Eddie,
Nice to read you !
When you say that, do you mean that I need to write a full new
FlowController? Or, is it sufficient to override some parameter in a XML
descriptor file?

Hi Benjamin,
This behavior of the built-in flow controller is designed to
demonstrate a segmenting Cas multiplier at the front of an aggregate.
It is not intended for all circumstances, and of course you can
replace this code to achieve other behaviors.

Hi Benjamin,
This behavior of the built-in flow controller is designed to
demonstrate a segmenting Cas multiplier at the front of an aggregate.
It is not intended for all circumstances, and of course you can
replace this code to achieve other behaviors.

You will need to configure the flow controller to get the behavior you
want. This is described in the manual chapter "CAS Multipliers and
Flow Control" (chapter 7.3.2 in my version 2.1.0 I think). Also in
the uimaj-examples project see the Segment_Annotate_Merge_AE.xml
descriptor.
