[jira] [Created] (SPARK-17359) Use +=(A) instead of append(A) in performance critical paths

Liwei Lin created SPARK-17359:
---------------------------------

Summary: Use +=(A) instead of append(A) in performance critical paths
                 Key: SPARK-17359
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SPARK-17359
             Project: Spark
          Issue Type: Improvement
          Components: MLlib, SQL
    Affects Versions: 2.0.0
            Reporter: Liwei Lin
            Priority: Minor

We should generally use ArrayBuffer.+=(A) rather than ArrayBuffer.append(A), because append(A) would involve extra boxing / unboxing.
