[jira] [Created] (ZEPPELIN-1297) R interpreter on Windows

belgacea created ZEPPELIN-1297:
----------------------------------

             Summary: R interpreter on Windows
                 Key: ZEPPELIN-1297
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ZEPPELIN-1297
             Project: Zeppelin
          Issue Type: Wish
          Components: zeppelin-interpreter
    Affects Versions: 0.6.0
         Environment: Windows 10 (64b), Java 1.8, R 3.2.3
            Reporter: belgacea
            Priority: Minor

Hi,
I successfully run the latest release of Zeppelin on windows 10 (which work great) and query my Cassandra database using the integrated interpreter.
I am new to Zeppelin and I would like to analyze data and visualize results using the R interpreter. Zeppelin documentation says to set the SPARK_HOME environment variable, but I don't have Apache Spark and I'm also new to it.
Do I need to get Spark on my local machine (I know that Zeppelin provides a built-in Apache Spark integration) or can I use an R interpreter alone ? I already have R and add it to my PATH but it seems not to work..
Do the latest version of Zeppelin integrates a standalone R interpreter and if so, do anyone know how to set it up on windows ?
Thanks a lot.
