[jira] Created: (JCR-478) Improve ability to access item in the
AccessManager context.
Improve ability to access item in the AccessManager context.
------------------------------------------------------------
Key: JCR-478
URL: http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JCR-478
Project: Jackrabbit
Type: Improvement
Reporter: Tobias Bocanegra
The current AccessManager environment does not offer an easy way to access the items of the repository. This is usually desired, if the ACLs themself are stored in the repository.
suggest to pass somehow the item state manager, system session, or some other context that gives access to lowlevel items.

i intentionally avoided passing a Session, ItemStateManager or similar in the AccessManagerContext.
an AccessManager must IMO not interfere with the core of jackrabbit.

Resolution: Won't Fix
Resolving as Won't Fix due to inactivity. With all the new security stuff in Jackrabbit 1.5 and later I think this whole issue is already obsolete.

But get the System Session would simplify a lot this work. The best way would be implemente a standar AccessManager with user and roles. I'm writing my own AccessManager for my project. When it is finished I can send it to the list.

I disagree. It is common to want to make ACL decisions based on business data which is stored in the node - perhaps some *read only* wrappers could be used to prevent ACL intefering with the content itself (only allowed to read).
