COMPACTING and REPAIRING : dependency between these two

Hi,

We have come across high disk space usage for which we wanted to do COMPACTING.
And data consistency due to connectivity issues and for that we wanted to do REPAIRING.

We thought of having some automatic jobs for COMPACTING and REPAIRING. SO, can someone please suggest what would be the frequency that they should be running.

Is there any dependency between COMPACTING and REPAIRING? if so, which one need to be executed first in these both.
