SVN Binary

Hello,

Here is the list of sites that shares the binary of SVN for Windows
platform. I'm trying to download Subversion ( just subversion not other
clients) from those links. I got this error "
This webpage has a redirect loop" from both Tigris.org websites. So, I tried
to download from CollabNet, SlikSVN and VIsualSVN. But all of those sites
don't have any link to download Subversion. They are encouraging users to
download their products instead of SVN. I'm wondering if open subversion has
some money relationships with those product companies...

I can, if I don't accept cookies from tigris.org. So, the solution is to accept cookies from tigris.org.

I can’t reproduce a loop. (It does a redirect to detect if you have a Tigris.org login cookie).

The CollabNet and SlikSvn downloads are just the normal Subversion distribution packaged in a customized installer.

· The Collabnet installer makes it easy to setup an apache server and python bindings. It installs a pretty much standard Subversion release, but the installer makes it easier.

· The SlikSVN package is an MSI packaged for easy automated deployment of just the client tools. (It renames the DLL names to make sure you don’t have DLL side-by-side conflicts; you can install it via group policy or other system management tools)

· (The Tigris apache 2.0 binaries are for Subversion 1.5 and older and the 2.2 versions are slightly behind. The site referenced in the other reply contains newer versions)

· VisualSVN Server is a different product, but when you install it you also get normal Subversion client binaries.

The Subversion project doesn’t release binaries, so if you want to download just subversion, you should download the source code and compile it yourself. (But I don’t think that is what you intended)

                Bert

You may try the binaries from:

http://alagazam.net/

as pointed out recently on this list:

I haven't tried all but I see all of them provide just SVN command-line
client except VisualSVN which appears to provide it as part of the
VisualSVN Server download. For example:

Tigris.org (Apache 2.2-compatible; maintained by D.J. Heap, Branko Čibej
and Troy Simpson)
<http://subversion.tigris.org/servlets/ProjectDocumentList?folderID=8100>

Don you see the "Setup-Subversion-1.6.6.msi" link in the file list?

SlikSVN (32- and 64-bit client MSI; maintained by Bert Huijben, SharpSvn
project)
<http://www.sliksvn.com/en/download>

Don't you see the "Slik SVN 1.6.11" link? The text above it states: "We
provide a standalone command line Subversion package for Windows. The
installer contains all command line tools (svn, svnadmin, svnsync,
svnserve, svnmucc, etc.) but no application bindings nor Apache modules.
The tools are fully side-by-side compatible with other packages."
