default arguments for macro

Is default values for macro parameters planned anytime? What is the general opinion on it?

Instead of writing for example shownotice($msg, "80%", $bgcolor, $fgcolor, ...) everywhere I would like to be able to call just shownotice($msg, "80%"). This way, if the "default bg color" is decided to be blue instead of gray, I wouldn't have to change all "shownotice"s. 

Writing shownotice($msg, "80%", $DEFAULT_NOTICE_BG_COLOR, ...) is also not very elegant in my opinion.
